Bear Mountain is perfect for honey. Lush rain forests and an abundance of wildflowers, berries, vines and ferns surround Kim Vander Sys' Bear Mountain honey and pollen gathering locations. Directly from the hives, the fresh "Bear Mountain" honey is transported to the company's state-of-the-art stainless steel extracting rooms where over 50,000 pounds of honey is transformed into honeybears for all to enjoy!

Bear Mountain honey is raw, unpasteurized, uncooked and unfiltered. That is, our honey is only strained to remove any honey comb wax and bee's wings so it still contains original pollen. We do not heat the honey like commercial honey packers do to break down any sugar crystals. That is why their (the commercial producer's) honey will stay clear longer on the shelf. Of course, heat above 120 degrees destroys the antioxidants, important enzymes, vitamins and other beneficial attributes. Also, many people find that heated honey looses much of its natural aroma and flavor.

Honey is being rediscovered as a natural source of energy that also offers a unique combination of nutritional benefits. Recent studies suggest that this unique mixture of sugars which occurs naturally in honey, works best in preventing fatigue and enhancing athletic performance. In addition to being a concentrated energy source, honey contains a wide array of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and amino acids.

It is not recommended that raw honey be fed to children under the age of one year old.
